New start of the Industry business unit at Willich

New start at Willich site

In mid-May the Industry business unit of thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe with its activities moved from Leverkusen to the modern Willich site. This will increase the number of employees in Willich by around 70 to 120. In addition to a larger production team, the administrative department is now also located in Willich. The focus of the location is on specializing in segments such as manufacturers of profiles, furniture or even equipment and apparatus engineering. Here the steel service center can now offer its customers an expanded product and service portfolio in addition to higher capacities in order to meet the continuing high demand in the industrial customer sector.

The state-of-the-art facility in Willich has five slitting lines and one cut-to-length line. Slit strip is now available in thicknesses from 0.4 to 7.0 mm and widths from 7.0 to 1,600 mm, with sheet lengths of up to 6,000 mm possible. Compared with the previous site in Leverkusen, customers now have 20 percent more production capacity at their disposal.

Thanks to the additional narrow strip center including jumbo coiling, which is also available on site, customer requests for strips in special lengths of up to 25 kilometers can be met. A new feature is a welding unit for stainless steel that can be used to weld together narrow strip up to 2 millimeters thick. In addition, customers benefit from an expanded portfolio for their applications with the newly added Color product area.
