thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe further expands service business
Larger spectrum for jumbo coiling stainless steel products
thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe has further expanded its service business and invested in its narrow strip center in Leverkusen. A new TIG welder for stainless steel has been purchased which can weld together narrow strip of up to 2 millimeters thickness. The state-of-the-art machine made by IDEAL-Werk further expands the processing capabilities of the service center group of the Materials Services business area in response to increased customer requirements.
The machine was designed specifically for the company’s requirements and carries out welding operations fully automatically. It can handle strip thicknesses of 0.5 – 2 millimeters and widths of 12 – 65 millimeters. A special feature is that the TIG welder executes the weld at an oblique angle, not the usual 90 degrees, which almost completely rules out breakages depending on type of further processing. Crater-free surfaces are obtained using template plates. As a portable unit the machine can be used at all the jumbo coilers in the narrow strip center. Jumbo coils not only offer efficiency advantages, they also contribute to reducing customers’ setup times.
