With repeated investments at our numerous locations and a close commitment to our core and growth markets in western, central and eastern Europe we pursue a policy of establishing ourselves as high-efficiency steel processor at national and international level.

The quality of our processes and our internal work flows is repeatedly being documented and fine-tuned. The ultimate aim is long-term success and the satisfaction of customers, employees, shareholders all in line with our ecological responsibility and in order to promote the ongoing improvement and perceptible progress of our company.

The history of thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe

1949

It begins with the founding of the family company Karl Jüngel GmbH & Co. KG, then based in Cologne-Mülheim. In the mid 1960s, this develops into one of Germany’s first service centers (former Leverkusen branch).

1971

Foundation of the company Eisen- und Stahlhandel, Mannheim warehouse and renaming in 1987 to Thyssen Schulte GmbH, Stahl-Service-Center Mannheim (now the Mannheim branch).

1989

Internationalization milestones are reached with the integration of a 50% interest in Thyssen Ros Casares in Spain.

1991

A 50% interest is acquired in the Service-Center Radebeul, Saxony, (now the Radebeul branch).

1994

The decisive year: within the former Thyssen AG, Thyssen Stahl-Service-Center GmbH is formed through the merger of the three service centers in Leverkusen, Mannheim and Bochum. An entirely new service provider joins the market with direct access to the experience and expertise of established steel specialists right from the start.

1997

The service center unit of the cold rolling firm Rötzel is integrated (former Breyell branch).

1999

The merger of the flat steel units of Thyssen and Hoesch-Krupp leads to the 100% integration of Radebeul.

A 74.9% interest is acquired in Herzog Coilex GmbH in Stuttgart. Acquisition of the French steel service centers Coste and Laminoirs et Ateliers de Jeumont (now thyssenkrupp Materials France) - the next important expansion step on the Western European market.

2002

The name is changed to ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center GmbH.

2007

Launching of the Polish subsidiary thyssenkrupp Stal Serwis Polska (now thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe Sp. z o.o.) drives forward the development of the Eastern European market.

2009

Expansion and reorganization of the Group with additional units in Spain and Portugal.

2010

Consolidation of the West German plants at the new center in Krefeld.

2011

Industry unit opened at Leverkusen.

2015

After previously increasing the stake in our subsidiary Herzog Coilex GmbH to 100 %, the former Herzog Coilex GmbH merges with ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center GmbH and becomes the Stuttgart branch.

2016

Acquisition of the Hungarian processing center in Győr, and also the stainless steel service center in Willich, as well as the former investee company Thyssen Ros Casares S.A. in southeastern Spain.

Renaming of company group into thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe.

2017

Relocation of Breyell activities to Krefeld and Willich.

The integration of the thyssenkrupp Metallcenter into the Group as the new Wörth branch adds aluminum and nonferrous metals to the portfolio.

2020

Relocation of the Industry business unit from the Leverkusen site to Willich.
Narrow steel strip

2021

Start of the new stainless steel narrow strip center at the Mannheim site.

2023

Relocation of activities from the Wörth location to Mannheim/Stuttgart. Expansion of Mannheim location with focus on stainless steel and aluminum product areas.
