Ferritic steel | 1.4512-1.4513
The main alloying element of ferritic steels is chromium, whose positive effect is enhanced by silicon and aluminium. Ferritic steels have a transformation-free microstructure. Their toughness under impact stress is relatively low.
Ferritic steels can be used for a wide range of applications such as covers and cladding in architecture, dishwasher shells, flatware, trim on automobiles, catalytic converter half-shells and longitudinally welded pipes.
