S315MC - S700MC
The S/MC grades according to DIN EN 10149-2 are micro-alloyed thermomechanically hot-rolled cold forming steels with low carbon contents and additions of the micro-alloying elements niobium, vanadium, titanium or their combination. They have excellent cold forming and welding properties. The extremely fine-grained structure also leads to very good toughness with a low risk of cold cracking.
The S/MC grades are offered in different yield strength grades from 300 to 700 MPa in pickled and unpickled versions. They are suitable for bending and folding with very small radii as well as for cutting, drilling or punching. They offer excellent weldability and very good notched impact strength.
If required, the notched impact test can be agreed when ordering.
The grades in this family offer higher guaranteed strengths in combination with lower elongation at break values.
The micro-alloyed S/MC grades are primarily used for complex component geometries and defined strength requirements such as vehicle frames, axle structures, body-in-white beams and pillars, special profiles and moulded parts in vehicle and commercial vehicle construction.
The grades S315MC to S700MC can be ordered by agreement with requirements on the chemical composition of the steel in relation to hot-dip galvanising.
